Over many years as an oboe player, I've added to the traditional, classical technique an approach to playing that applies bagpipe-style skills like finger articulation and circular breathing. The video "Celtic oboe" below is a good summary of this approach. While there are some limitations (covered finger holes, for example), the oboe is quite versatile and can render several bagpipe styles (both Scottish Highland pipes and Irish uilleann pipes, for example).
